This post is going to be a little different than most of my followers are used to but my blog is about balance. I focus on the the importance of self-care. As mommy of the princess, student council president competitive dancer, as a working mommy who oversees all the programs of a nonprofit, and as a woman who has friends and family members she enjoys spending time with, it is imperative to take time for myself.
You too need to find time for yourself. There are several different ways to do that and getting a vaginal steaming is one of those. I am sure there are some of you that have no clue what that actually entails.

My Personal Experience
So I am going to write about my experience getting my vagina steamed. The day of my appointment, I walk inside and I am greeted by Dr. Smith. She is smiling really big and I am scared of the unknown. I have no idea what’s about to happen to one of my most prized possessions.
The room is very calming though. I see a shelf that has various jars of herbs. On the opposite side of the room, I see what looks like three leather toilets with curtains separating them.
After I complete my waiver, she tells me that I can get undressed and provides me with a cloak to cover up with. As I am changing, she steps out. At that moment, I am wondering what I have gotten myself into. I mean it sounded good. The benefits should be helpful for me and I am trying to focus on my health right now. So I decide if nothing else, I have 30 minutes of alone time with nothing to do but sit. How often do I get to do that?
I change, Dr. Smith comes back in and proceeds to tell me to bend over and spread my cheeks before I sit down. This is hilarious to me and I am sure my face shows it. 😆
She explains that I need to make sure I open my legs wide when I sit so that the steam goes into my body. Now I’m back to be nervous. Steam sounds hot and I am sure my vagina does not want to be burned.
She provides me with a mask and some headphones, then she walks out. The music began to play and a woman’s voice speaks softly to help me meditate. It was so relaxing. With my eyes closed and listening to the sounds on the headphones, I slowly begin to relax.
Then I start to feel the initial response to the steam. I won’t go into extreme detail but let’s just say that level of relaxation, a release of day to day life, and the sensational experience made me want to cook breakfast for someone afterward yet there was no one else here and there wasn’t a kitchen.
As the weeks went by, there were several benefits that I experienced such as more sensation, no cramping during my menstrual cycle, which managed to be a 28-day cycle. I usually have about a 22-24 day cycle, so I knew it had to be from the steaming.
My overall recommendation is to try it. If nothing more, it’s a quiet time to relax, meditate and enjoy yourself. Sometimes to balance yourself out, you may have to try something new!
